Satsivi and the Georgian New Year table
Read satsivi as a poultry and walnut dish with family and regional variations at the New Year table.

Satsivi is turkey or chicken served with walnut sauce and spices. Georgia Travel associates the dish with New Year and describes regional and family variations.
Walnuts are the common base
The official page lists walnuts, garlic, coriander, fenugreek and pepper. Recipes vary in onion preparation, vinegar, bay leaf and seasoning. Some versions pour fresh sauce over fried poultry. Others simmer the meat before adding sauce.
Satsivi at New Year
The New Year supra page names turkey satsivi as a feast centrepiece alongside bread, vegetables, khachapuri, churchkhela and dried fruit. Regional households add their own dishes.
- Ask whether the poultry is turkey or chicken.
- Ask whether the sauce is cooked or fresh.
- Ask about walnuts and seasonings if a dietary restriction matters.
