Start with the official Georgian Foreign Ministry’s Geoconsul portal. Its entry pages point to the visa-free list, visa categories, e-application system, e-Visa portal and a “Do I Need Visa” workflow. The portal displayed a test-mode banner during our check on 24 October 2026, so use its current interface as an orientation point and confirm details in the linked official material.

Gather the facts the official tool asks for

Before opening the checker, record the country that issued your travel document, its type, your citizenship or status, your purpose of travel and planned stay length. The official sources distinguish tourism, transit, study, work and longer residence. Some visa-free rules also refer to a current visa or residence permit from another country. Enter each fact in the field that asks for it. Do not substitute document-issuing country for citizenship, or vice versa.

Choose the official process by travel purpose

Geoconsul separates the short-stay e-Visa portal from the E-Application System for visa categories handled through a Georgian consular office. Its FAQ describes an e-Visa as a short-stay process. Read the official category and required-document pages before starting an application. Choose a category from official purpose and document rules.

The e-Visa FAQ lists a travel document, proof of travel purpose, accommodation, insurance and financial means among border documents. Required documents vary by application category. Use the checklist linked from the exact official route you follow, then keep the requested papers together for travel.

Geoconsul links the official visa-free countries list, other visa-free conditions and a days calculator. Read the relevant list entry in full, including travel-document and length-of-stay conditions. The calculator helps organise a date question; the underlying official rule governs the answer.

Separate visa, insurance and border admission

A visa question is separate from other entry requirements. The Ministry’s notice says that from 1 January 2026, tourists must hold valid health and accident insurance with at least GEL 30,000 in coverage. The policy must be in Georgian or English and cover the full stay, including arrival and departure dates. The notice lists exemptions. Separately, Article 12 of the Aliens and Stateless Persons law says an authorised Ministry of Internal Affairs body inspects travellers at the border checkpoint and grants or denies entry. Read the notice and law for current requirements.

When the official result is unclear

  • Open the cited visa-free rule or application category, rather than relying on a summary headline.
  • Check the dates and conditions on the official Foreign Ministry or consular page that applies to your case.
  • For an unusual document, dual citizenship or mixed travel purpose, contact the relevant Georgian consular office before booking around an assumption.
  • Keep a copy of the current official guidance and the documents the issuing authority requests.

The official Geoconsul and e-Visa pages are linked in Sources, along with the insurance notice, visa-free list and entry law. Use the authority’s current instructions for your case. Contact the relevant Georgian consular office when a document or travel purpose does not fit the published guidance.
