Planning a Batumi and coast visit
Choose between a city-based stay, a garden visit north of town and a separate coastal outing in Ajara.

Batumi offers distinct choices: an urban walk, the seafront boulevard, a large botanical garden north of the centre, or a trip to another Ajara coast settlement. Decide which matters most before choosing a base. The places sit near one another on the map, yet each calls for a different visit.
Keep the city day compact
Old Batumi covers the area between the port and Nuri Lake, with the boulevard along its seaward edge. The visitor guide describes a mix of older residential buildings, public and religious buildings, museums, cafés and later urban development. Use those streets as a walk with several pauses, rather than assuming every listed sight belongs to a single timed route.
Batumi Boulevard links the city and the water. The city guide lists the Batumi Colonnades, lighthouse, Piazza, Alphabetic Tower and Ali and Nino sculpture. Choose a short stretch and a few stops to match your interests. For a full day beside the sea, decide whether the city beach or a settlement farther along the coast suits your stay.
Treat the botanical garden as its own outing
Batumi Botanical Garden sits at Mtsvane Kontskhi, also called Green Cape. The tourism authority places the garden 9 kilometres from the city centre and describes nine floral areas with plants from several world regions. Plan a separate outing instead of squeezing the garden into a short Old Batumi walk. Check the garden’s own visitor information for current entry and access details.
The garden page distinguishes a Lower Park with magnolias, oleanders, cedars, pines, palms and cypresses from an Upper Park with plants such as Japanese camellia. This detail helps you decide whether a botanical visit belongs in your plan. Check current entrance arrangements with the garden before setting out.
Decide how far along the coast to go
Ajara’s tourism guide names Kobuleti, Gonio, Kvariati and Sarpi among coastal alternatives. The region page distinguishes the busy city from smaller settlements where beach accommodation and a quieter setting are part of the offer. These choices define the character of your base. Check sea conditions, beach services and local activity for your dates.
- Choose Batumi when you want the city’s architecture, museums, boulevard and dining in the same base.
- Choose a coastal settlement when time by the water is the main purpose and you have checked the onward journey to it.
- Add the botanical garden when you want a long outdoor visit among plants and coastal views.
- Check the exact train station or road endpoint if you combine Batumi with another region.
