Walk Old Tbilisi, then decide on Dry Bridge
A street-level Old Tbilisi sequence with a separate Dry Bridge market extension and clear choices for a shorter walk.

Treat Old Tbilisi and Dry Bridge as two decisions. The first is a compact walk through the historic riverfront and the bath quarter. The second is a market and artists' area farther along the city, worth adding when browsing objects is part of your day. There is no need to make one continuous march out of them. Start with the Old Town sequence, then decide at the end whether you still want the extension.
Old Town: from Metekhi to Shavteli
Begin at Metekhi on the left bank of the Mtkvari. The church and the statue of Vakhtang Gorgasali orient you above the river. Look across toward the right-bank roofs before crossing Metekhi Bridge. This gives you a useful map in your head: Avlabari and Rike sit on one side, while Meidan, Kala and the bath quarter sit across the water. If you only want the street route, stay at river level. Narikala stands above Kala, but adding the fortress turns this into a climb with a different pace.
Cross to Gorgasali Square, also called Meidan. Georgia Travel describes this as a long-standing trading centre and a focal point of the old city. From here, go into Abanotubani to see the low brick domes of the sulfur baths. The neighborhood works as a street stop even if you do not book a bath. A bath visit is a separate plan with its own room choice and booking questions. Do not build it into the walking sequence unless you intend to spend time inside.
For a short detour, follow Abano Street into Leghvtakhevi. The official tourism page places the gorge and waterfall beyond the baths and describes bridges, stairs and a narrow path. Return by the same approach to continue through the historic streets. Skip the gorge if stairs, a confined path or extra walking would make the day less comfortable. You still see the core bath quarter from Abanotubani. Check conditions on arrival rather than assuming every part of the path is open or suitable.
Back near Meidan, continue through Kala toward Sioni Cathedral. Georgia Travel places Sioni on the right bank and links it with Erekle II Street and the nearby Abanotubani and Leghvtakhevi districts. Pause outside or enter respectfully if the church is open and entry fits your visit. Then take the street route toward Shavteli. The Gabriadze theatre and clock tower give a clear landmark there. Anchiskhati Basilica is on the same street. These are distinct buildings, so keep the names separate as you look around.
End the core walk around Shavteli and Baratashvili Street. Georgia Travel describes Baratashvili Bridge as another entry into the old city and places the pedestrian Peace Bridge between Baratashvili and Metekhi bridges. If you have time for one more river view, loop toward the Peace Bridge and Rike Park. If you have already had enough streets, finish here. The point of this sequence is to understand how the banks, trading square, baths and churches fit together, not to enter every building.
Choose a bath room if you want to go inside
Dry Bridge: add a separate market leg
Dry Bridge is a different kind of stop. The tourism authority describes an open-air flea market with coins, household objects, books, jewellery and other old or recent goods. A nearby painters' area offers works by artists and makers. Its location links Saarbruecken Square and 9 April Garden. Use those names to navigate after the Old Town walk, or make Dry Bridge its own outing if you want unhurried browsing. The market is not part of the bath-quarter loop.
Decide what you are looking for before buying. A painting, a used household object and an antique claim need different questions. Ask the seller about the item, its material and price. If age, maker or provenance matters, request evidence you can assess. Do not treat the market's reputation as authentication of an individual stall or object. Stock, sellers and conditions can change. The official pages describe the market categories, not today's inventory.
On a short visit, choose the Old Town route for river geography and the historic street sequence. Choose Dry Bridge if objects and conversation with sellers interest you more than another monument. If uneven paving or stairs are a constraint, keep to the easiest street segment you can judge on site and leave out the gorge and hillside climb. If both parts fit, take a break between them. No fixed walk time would serve every visitor, especially with a bath visit or market browsing added.
