Begin with the clinical decision

CDC and NHS guidance both emphasise discussing the proposed care with a qualified healthcare professional. Ask about the treatment, alternatives, expected follow-up and who takes responsibility if complications occur. The appeal of the destination should not decide the clinical question.

Keep the practical arrangements explicit

  • Agree how medical records and instructions will pass between the treating team and the clinician responsible for follow-up.
  • Ask the treating clinician about the timing and conditions of travel. Hito does not supply a general recovery or fit-to-fly interval.
  • Confirm what the insurer covers for planned treatment, complications and changes to the trip.
  • Separate the medical charge from transport, accommodation, an extended stay and possible return travel.

Check which rules apply to you

The linked CDC material is US travel-health guidance for clinicians and the NHS pages address UK readers. Funding and insurance arrangements depend on your own jurisdiction and policy. This page does not claim that a particular scheme pays for care in Georgia.
