A first trip to Georgia: where to start
Choose an arrival city, a first base and one onward connection before you book the route across Georgia.

Start with where you land and the time you have. A useful route gives each stop a reason: city life, food, a coastal stay or time in the mountains. Keep the transport between those places in the plan from the beginning.
Begin with your arrival point
Tbilisi
Choose a city base first, then match the airport journey to its exact address. The municipal bus and airport-listed taxi serve different arrival needs.

Keep the airport connection separate from your time in the city. Decide which western Georgia stops you want before adding a return journey across the country.

Give the coast the time you want, then check the current connection before adding another region.

- Write down your arrival airport, first night and final departure point. They do not have to be the same city.
- Choose one first base that fits the places you want to see on foot or by local transport.
- Name the next destination and check the actual station, airport or pickup point before booking its connection.
- Add another stop only after you have allowed time for the transfer and the stay itself.
For a first visit, a simple route often works better than trying to cover the capital, coast and mountains in one continuous loop. Pick the experience that matters most, then see whether a second region fits the days you have.
Choose a base around your plans
A room is part of the decision, rather than the whole decision. Compare the exact location with the places you expect to visit. Ask about the entrance, room position and arrival arrangements before booking.

Check the connection before fixing the nights
- Name the actual departure and arrival points. An airport, station and city centre are different places.
- Check the operator information for your travel date. Georgian Railway publishes passenger rules and ticket information; use the current journey search for the route you need.
- Keep the booking reference and the identity document used for the ticket together.
- Leave an alternative for an outdoor plan when local access or conditions change.
Keep room to spend time somewhere
Choose fewer stops when the journeys begin to take over the trip. A city day with a walk, a meal and time to revisit a place is a complete part of a holiday. It does not need another distant destination added to it.
