The 2025 MTA nomination describes Poti Lighthouse as a navigation aid and heritage subject. Its courtyard-access note belongs to a dated filing and gives no current visitor schedule.

Read the structure through its engineering

The nomination names Easton Amos and Sons as makers of the cast-iron tower, manufactured in London in 1862 and assembled in Poti. Its listed figures are 36.6 metres high, 126 tonnes, 160 steps to the optical chamber and a 17-nautical-mile range. The original wick lamp and Fresnel lens were later replaced by electric lighting.

The form dates the launch to 1 November 1864 and records service at the 2025 filing. This is a dated status, not a present-day operating confirmation.

Treat courtyard information as a dated account

MTA's 2025 public-access section says the courtyard was free to enter and regularly open, with occasional guided visits during cultural events. The nomination gives no current hours, booking details or tower-entry status.

Separate the access questions before making a plan

  • Where is the current public approach, and who controls access to the courtyard?
  • Does a visit include the grounds only, or also the optical chamber?
  • Is an event planned, or is a standard visit available on your date?

Use maritime notices for a maritime question

The Maritime Transport Agency's separate Notices to Mariners page listed notices dated through 23 October 2026 when checked. The index lists entries by number and date; open the specific notice for its geographic scope. These notices concern navigation, not visitor hours.

For maritime-information requests, MTA's current service list names nautical charts, bathymetric surveys and sea-level data for Batumi and Poti waters. The page links an online new-chart order form. These services answer navigation-data questions, not visitor access.

  • For the lighthouse's history and structure, use the dated MTA nomination.
  • For current navigation updates, use the MTA Notices to Mariners page.
  • For a visitor courtyard or interior visit, ask the operator for a current arrangement; no current visitor schedule was established in these sources.
