Dmanisi: the archaeological site and the town
Choose between the site in Patara Dmanisi, its medieval ruins and archaeological material displayed in Tbilisi.

The reserve address is the village of Patara Dmanisi. Georgia Travel's separate town guide covers Dmanisi town, so treat the town and archaeological reserve as distinct stops. The choice is between seeing the archaeological setting in the field and viewing material from the discoveries in Tbilisi.
Choose the reserve for the place itself
The National Museum dates Dmanisi's hominin and prehistoric-animal remains to about 1.8 million years ago. Its brochure describes a field museum protecting an archaeological area, with remains of a medieval town including a church, defensive wall, household buildings and living quarters. It places Late Bronze and Early Iron Age layers beneath the medieval remains. Those are later horizons, not the earliest finds at Dmanisi.
Choose Tbilisi for displayed material
Georgia Travel says archaeological material from Dmanisi is displayed at the National Museum in Tbilisi, and places the famous skulls there too. If those objects are your main interest, distinguish the city museum visit from travel to the reserve. The on-site visit offers the archaeological setting and medieval remains; it is not a promise that every find is displayed at the site.
Treat the guided medieval visit as a separate question
The National Museum's visitor page describes guided visits to a medieval castle and a ninth-to-thirteenth-century church. It does not establish the arrangement for a specific date. Ask the Museum which parts of the reserve are accessible, whether a guide is needed for these remains and what current arrival arrangements apply before making a day plan.
Dmanisi Museum-Reserve
Dmanisi Museum-Reserve is a Georgian National Museum field museum at Patara Dmanisi, where the archaeological area and remains of the medieval town form part of the reserve.
