Kutaisi Airport to the railway station: check both legs
Plan the separate airport-to-station shuttle and train legs, then compare them with the airport’s terminal bus options.

Kutaisi International Airport has a railway connection, but the train station and airport terminal are separate places. The airport says the station is 1.8 km from the airport and lists free dedicated shuttle buses between them. It does not give shuttle departure times. Treat the station transfer as its own leg: first confirm that a train fits your arrival, then confirm how the airport shuttle lines up with it. A train listing alone does not prove that a terminal-to-station transfer is running at your arrival time.
Start with the train, not the shuttle
Open Georgian Railway’s date-specific timetable and search the journey you want to make. Check the travel date, departure station, destination and departure time. Do not assume every train serving the area stops at the airport station, or that the timetable shown for another day applies to your flight. The airport page explains where the rail connection sits; Georgian Railway is the source for train departures and ticket conditions.
If the timetable does not return a suitable service, or the connection leaves too little time after landing, do not build your arrival plan around a hoped-for train. The rail link is useful only when both legs work: terminal to station, then station to destination. Allow time to collect bags, clear the airport and reach the shuttle pick-up point. The airport and railway pages do not promise a protected connection if a flight or train is delayed.
Keep terminal, station and shuttle distinct
The train does not depart from the airport arrivals hall. Use the airport’s railway information to identify its station transfer, then check the current shuttle instructions close to travel. Confirm the boarding point, whether a departure is listed for your date and how the shuttle relates to the specific train you intend to catch. If the airport page gives a distance or timetable, treat that as airport-published information and recheck it; it is not evidence that a shuttle is operating at every hour.
Compare the bus by destination
A bus from the terminal may be simpler when its destination matches your plan. The airport lists a shuttle towards Kutaisi city centre, with stops and a timetable on its own page. It also lists separate bus-transfer operators, whose services and purchase arrangements are not the same thing as the railway shuttle. Check the operator and the airport’s passenger information for the route you need. A flight-linked transfer to another city is a separate option again, with its own dated timetable and ticket terms.
Choose rail
The train date and station stop work, and the airport’s station transfer is shown for your arrival window.
Choose a terminal bus
An airport-listed shuttle or transfer operator serves the destination and timing you need.
Keep an alternative
The schedule, station stop or connection is unclear. Check the airport’s other listed transport options before relying on rail.
A short check before you fly
- Save the exact train result for your date, including its station name and departure time.
- Check the airport railway page for the terminal-to-station transfer and recheck its current operating details.
- Keep the railway ticket and the shuttle instructions separate. They are different legs and may involve different operators.
- Compare the terminal bus pages when the train or station transfer does not fit. Confirm destination, date, boarding point and ticket arrangement with the relevant operator.
Use this route when the rail timetable and the airport connection agree for your date. If either part remains unconfirmed, plan from the airport’s current bus-transfer information instead of treating the word “railway” on an airport page as a guaranteed onward journey.
