How to read Georgia’s official road restriction notices
Match the road, km section, vehicle class and notice period before using an official restriction bulletin to plan a route.

The Roads Department’s English Restrictions list is a sequence of dated notices. Read each entry as a record for a specific road segment and vehicle class. Similar corridor names do not mean the same section is affected, and a posting timestamp does not by itself tell you how long a restriction lasts.
Match the road and section
- Start with the full road name and its stated designation, such as international or secondary road. Do not match only the nearby town or pass name.
- Compare both kilometre endpoints and the named subsection. An entry may identify a stretch as km 94–km 110 and add a local name such as Paravani Pass.
- Keep adjacent notices separate. A notice may restrict all traffic on one stretch while a different vehicle class is restricted on another stretch of the same road.
Read the vehicle rule literally
Find the sentence that names the affected traffic. “All types of vehicles” and “trailers and semi-trailers” describe different restrictions. Do not assume a restriction for a heavy vehicle applies to a car, or that a pass restriction covers the whole road named in the bulletin.
Separate posted time from effective time
Each listing shows when a notice was published. Some notices also state a start and end window, such as a temporary diversion during the night of 11–12 August 2026. Use that window as the stated period. A date attached to an archived notice is historical context, not a current road report.
Treat each update as its own record
The archive includes both restriction notices and reports that traffic has been restored. Read the newest relevant entry for the same road and section, and do not infer that a road is open simply because an older restriction is no longer the first item in the list. A weather explanation in a notice also does not replace the road-specific traffic status.
Treat the cause line as explanation, not as a route instruction. A bulletin about snow, construction or a traffic diversion supports only the restriction and timing it states. It does not establish a substitute route, journey time or a restriction on another segment.
