Ninotsminda: plan a town visit before the lake country
Start with the town's museum, theater and churches, then choose whether an outlying monastery belongs in the same plan.

Ninotsminda town and Ninotsminda Municipality are different visit scales. The town sits near Khanchali Lake at about 1,940 metres, while the municipality includes several highland lakes and settlements. Begin with the town itself if you want its local cultural institutions; use the regional nature guide if lakes and wetlands are the main reason for your journey.
Keep a town visit focused on its cultural sites
The Georgian National Tourism Administration places the History Museum and public theater inside the Youth Palace building. It also names the Armenian Surb Sarkis Church, built in 1884, and dates the Mother of God Nunnery to 2001. These are distinct town subjects: local collections and performance, Armenian church history, and a monastic institution. The source does not provide current museum or theater hours, performances or access conditions.
Plan Poka as a separate visit
The town page also records Stone Age finds, kurgans and Bronze Age megalithic structures in the area. It does not identify a marked visitor walk among them. Use the museum for a contained local-history stop, and treat any outdoor archaeological site as a separate destination until its approach is clear.
Poka is a separate village on the shore of Paravani Lake, beyond Ninotsminda town center. The monastery's church dates to the eleventh century. Georgia Travel describes a hall-type plan, ornamented doors and windows, and fragments of interior artwork. Plan Poka as its own cultural destination. The sources give no walking route linking the town museum, lake shore and monastery.
Choose one scope for the day
- Stay in town for the museum, theater and built heritage; confirm which institutions are open before relying on an interior visit.
- Choose Poka for its church architecture and lakeshore setting, then verify the current approach and any visitor arrangements with the monastery.
- Use the Javakheti guide for lake, wetland and upland choices across the municipality.
The reviewed sources give historical and geographic context, not current transport between Ninotsminda, the lake villages and Poka. Plan each outlying stop as a separate destination until you have confirmed the connection.
