Nekresi: separate church dates from frescoes
The Small Church's proposed date is contested; the basilica's frescoes are later than its structure.

Nekresi's churches belong to different building periods, and one early date remains contested.
Keep the proposed date qualified
Georgia Travel attributes the Small Church's second-half-fourth-century date to historian Giorgi Chubinashvili but notes that some scholars contest it. The same page dates the Nativity of the Virgin basilica to the sixth-to-seventh centuries.
The paintings belong to a later phase
The page dates the basilica's frescoes to the sixteenth century and notes inscriptions in Georgian Asomtavruli and Greek. Keep that painted phase separate from the church's older building date.
When comparing the two, identify the building before reading its painting and inscriptions. The source offers no current visitor-access details.
