Khulo: make a town visit or plan for the wider municipality
Use Khulo's information center and local museum as town-based stops, then choose whether a village destination belongs in the plan.

Khulo is a townlet and administrative center in mountainous Adjara. GNTA places Khulo about 85 kilometres from Batumi and describes a wider municipality of villages, resort areas and mountain destinations. Choose the town-based visit or a specific outlying destination. VisitAjara lists the municipality at 710 square kilometres. GNTA says the settlement was once called Khula, meaning trading house, for its historic role as a trading post. The same page names Beshumi as a climatic resort and Goderdzi as a ski resort, distinct from town services.
Start in town with the information center and local museum
VisitAjara lists a Tourist Information Center in Khulo; use its profile for the posted address, hours and public phone. The same portal organizes information on mountainous Adjara by destination, food, lodging and route.
The same regional portal lists the Museum of Local Lore of Khulo as free, with hours of 10:00-18:00. Its collection description covers Adjara ethnography, nineteenth- and twentieth-century tools, copper and clay vessels, applied art, embroidery, numismatics and local history. The collection offers a town-based culture stop before a separate gorge or plateau visit. GNTA also lists the Sherif Khimshiashvili Museum in Skhalta Gorge, a second museum location outside the town center.
Choose a municipality destination by its location
VisitAjara lists Khikhadziri, Danisparauli, Elelidzeebi and Tago as village stays where visitors experience local daily life and cooking. These settlements sit within Khulo Municipality, outside the town center. The regional page lists guesthouses and food options but provides no current property availability.
Use the posted bus note as a starting point
VisitAjara’s information-center FAQ describes minibuses from Batumi to mountainous Adjara and gives an approximate fare. The page gives no dated Khulo departure or same-day road status for a chosen village. Treat the entry as a general route lead, not a timetable for a particular destination.
Set the scale before committing to a stay
- Choose Khulo town when the local museum and information center answer the purpose of your stop.
- Choose an outlying village when a rural stay or a specific landscape is central to the plan.
- Use the information center listing for its current address and hours; confirm a village stay with its operator.
